The short words come second
Level A2 · Unit 8: Good old times · Lesson 3: Word order in the past
The auxiliary (sem, si, je…) goes in second place, after the first word or phrase:
- Včeraj sem delal. · Delal sem včeraj. · Jaz sem delal včeraj.
When there are several short words, they always come in this order: sem / si / je… → se → ga / jo:
- Učil sem se. I was studying.
- Gledal sem jo. I watched it.
