The plural, and k / h
Level A2 · Unit 9: Friends and the phone · Lesson 2: Who for? The dative
In the plural, the dative ends in:
- -om for masculine and neuter nouns (-em after c, č, j, š, ž): bratom, prijateljem
- -am for feminine nouns: sestram
- -im for adjectives: dobrim prijateljem, starim staršem
K + dative means "to someone's place" or "towards". Before words starting with k- or g- it becomes h:
- Jutri grem k babici. Tomorrow I'm going to Grandma's.
- Grem k zdravniku. I'm going to the doctor's.
- Zvečer grem h Gregorju. In the evening I'm going to Gregor's.
