Two pronouns together
Level A2 · Unit 9: Friends and the phone · Lesson 5: Give it to him: pronoun pairs
When a sentence has a dative and an accusative pronoun, the dative comes first: "to whom", then "what".
- Dam mu ga. I'll give it to him.
- Posodim ti jo. I'll lend it to you. (the book: knjiga → jo)
- Pošljem vam jih. I'll send them to you.
Here is the complete order of the short words in second place:
sem / si / smo / ste / so → se → dative → accusative → je
| Sentence | auxiliary | dative | accusative | je |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dal sem ti ga. | sem | ti | ga | – |
| Včeraj sem ji jih posodil. | sem | ji | jih | – |
| Dal mu ga je. | – | mu | ga | je |
