Ti or vi?
Level B1 · Unit 14: Slovenia and the world · Lesson 3: Visiting a Slovenian home
Vikanje (saying vi) is for strangers, older people, customers and anyone in a formal setting. Tikanje (saying ti) is for friends, family, children and, increasingly, colleagues. The older or more senior person usually offers ti: Lahko me tikaš.
With polite vi, verbs and participles are plural, even for one person: Ste že bili v Ljubljani? "Have you been to Ljubljana?"
